Policy Development & Review
EconSearch has contributed to the development and review of policy for industry and Government agencies.
As an example, our water industry assignments have included several projects for Government focussing on water policy issues. These have included assessment of market based measures (e.g. buybacks and leasing arrangements) for water recovery for the River Murray and incentives to encourage on-farm investment and uptake of water use efficiency measures in South Australia.
Policy review work has included a review of policy mechanisms for delivering strategic conservation outcomes on private and public land for the SA Department of Environment and Heritage. For the same agency a review was undertaken of proposed changes to the South Australian kangaroo management program sealed tag allocation system.
EconSearch also undertaken several cost recovery projects. These have involved a review of the application of cost recovery principles and the development of a cost recovery model. For the South Australian aquaculture industry we developed a spreadsheet model that attributes Aquaculture Group budget to commercial aquaculture sectors according to relevant cost recovery principles. The model provides estimates of cost recovery income for a range of cost, production and industry development assumptions.
