Project: Economic Analysis of the Proposed Glen Villa Salt Interception Scheme (2009)
Client: Department of Water and Energy (NSW)
Summary: A cost benefit analysis of the options for the proposed Glen Villa SIS is provided in this report. The economic analysis was based on salt load modelling, the best available estimates of the monetary value of reduced downstream salt loads associated with the proposed Salt Interception Scheme and construction, administration, operational and maintenance costs. Based on the valuation of market benefits only, the scheme would generate net benefits to the wider community. In addition, there are a number of non-quantifiable benefits which understate the true worth of implementing the scheme.
The original analysis was completed in 2007. The results were revised in 2009 on the basis of updated estimates of the total construction costs and construction time period for the project.
