Project: Economic Analysis of Road Funding Options on Kangaroo Island (2010)
Client: Kangaroo Island Council
Collaborators: Barry Burgan, Economic Research Consultants and Fiona Murdoch, HORIZON3
Summary: The KI transport strategy identifies the need for transport investment to support existing and future agricultural and tourism industry developments. This analysis provided modelling of the benefits associated with meeting this investment need. Improved roads will create direct benefits to current and future road users in the form of, for example, reduced travel times, reduced repairs and maintenance costs, reduced crash costs, and reduced emissions. Investment in road infrastructure will also entice more visitors to KI which will, in turn, improve business profitability.
