Project: Economic Assessment of the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre (2005)

Client: Sydney Ports Corporation & Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM)

Collaborator: AgEcon Plus

Summary: Sydney Ports Corporation proposed to develop an intermodal logistics centre (ILC) at the former Enfield rail yards. The proposal would achieve a percentage reduction in total kilometres travelled by truck, bringing economic and environmental advantages. The direct and indirect economic impact of the movement of cargo through the proposed intermodal logistics centre was measured. An analysis was undertaken to measure the environmental and social benefits of the ILC associated with the substitution of rail for road freight.
