Project: Business Case for Integrated Bio-system (IBS) Technology (2009)

Client: Environmental Biotechnology Cooperative Research Centre

Summary: The business case presents the argument for the EBCRC for investment in the proposed IBS technologies project. The business case provides information to aid decisions about further investment in and industry adoption of integrated bio-system (IBS) technology.

The primary focus of the cost benefit analysis was the costs and benefits that accrue as a result of IBS project investment options. The primary inputs to the economic analysis were estimates regarding waste production, waste treatment costs and IBS technology adoption rates. There is a high level of uncertainty regarding the outcomes of the project and to account for the increasing uncertainty into the future the results were estimated over 10, 15 and 30 year periods.
