EconSearch Completed Project

Project: Economic assessment of proposed changes in management arrangements in the SA Garfish Fishery (2002)

Client: Fisheries Research and Development Corporation

Summary: In order to investigate the potential for higher economic yield in the fishery by the improvement of harvest, post-harvest and marketing strategies EconSearch developed an economic model for the fishery. This model assessed the impact on the financial performance of the fishery of changes in various management arrangements, for example, increasing minimum size from 21cm to 24 cm and seasonal closures.
