Project: Climate Change, Drought and Australian Agriculture: Measuring the Impact on Regions (2008)

Client: Australia Japan Foundation

Summary: The focus of this paper is a discussion of a general approach for the regional economic analysis of drought and climate change. In particular the paper considers the implications for agricultural industries at a farm or enterprise level and at a regional economy-wide level.

At a regional level, the collective responses at the farm/ enterprise level will have implications for the broader economy, social circumstances and the physical environment.

The paper considers two case studies of regional impact of drought and climate change: River Murray drought and a Lower Murray decision support system for river management.
